My mom recently visited and before she left she felt very sad.
“Oh I feel bad leaving. it’s just very sad”.
That was interesting to me. It can be normal to feel sad when leaving a loved one but this seemed extra sad and I knew it had to be a PopUp.
I asked her what leaving meant to her and she said:
“I like having you in my life”
“It’s just something inevitable”
We discussed It a bit and uncovered that within her was this idea that leaving was permanent, and that saying goodby was permanent. When she made that realization, the sadness dropped and she suddenly felt much better.
She proceeded to say “ok, I am ready to go”.
Now that the emotion was taken out of it, it was easy to move forward.
She now felt calm and clear headed.
